Berkshire Highlands Forest is a coveted 292-acre section of prime hardwoods located in the heart of the Hoosic River Valley. Perched on a hillside facing the fabled Mount Greylock (Massachusetts' highest peak at 3,491'), the Forest features a combination of flat and sloping terrain.
A detailed forest management plan is in effect, which creates optimal growing conditions for the stands of timber. This property will continue to produce and maintain healthy and productive stands of all age classes, from pole to mature sawtimber.
The property has abundant wildlife, featuring deer and turkey. Other wildlife include rabbit, red fox, coyote, and black bear. Making it possible for these wildlife to thrive is the vast Savoy State forest to the east of the property, which stretches for miles.
Since this property is located so close to Mount Greylock, it's important to note the impact the mountain has on the area. Greylock is part of the famous Appalachian Trail, which winds its way from Northern Georgia all the way to Southern Maine. But despite the influx of summer hikers, that time of year is not the only time of year that Greylock sees activity - the entire Mount Greylock Reservation is loaded with trails for snowmobilers, cross-country skiers, snowshoers, and the like.
Besides Greylock, the Berkshire County area is a close-knit, recreationalist haven. A fondness for the outdoors and the arts is evident among the local population, and the area attracts tourists with the Mass MoCA and Clark Art museums, as well as the Jiminy Peak Ski Resort. Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts is 5 minutes away, and prestigious Williams College is less than 15 minutes away.
